From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the next sizzling novel in the Rosemary Beach series, featuring well-known playboy and Blaire’s half brother, Captain.
The look on Rose’s face had screamed that she was hiding something. Hell, she’d practically run away from me. There was something to that. I knew there was...
After ten years in the employ of a mysterious crime boss, River “Captain” Kipling is ready to leave his sordid past—and his cover occupation as an upscale restaurateur—behind him. The only thing standing in the way of his “retirement” is his commitment to launch a new restaurant in the resort town of Rosemary Beach. With his sister, Blaire, nearby, Captain can delay his dream of running a humble bar on the waterfront, but the unwanted attentions of his head server, Elle, have him itching to get out.
Until he notices Rose Henderson, the new server at the restaurant. All he knows about the pretty redhead with the cute glasses is that she’s a hardworking single mom from Oklahoma. But there’s something overly familiar about her laugh...something strange about the way she looks at Captain…
The Best Goodbye is the 12th full novel in the Rosemary Beach Series, and the 6th couple! Thats a lot to keep up with no? This series started to loose a little steam for me with the last few books….they weren’t BAD stories AT ALL, I just kind of “binge read” and was over it by 10 books. So anyways when I saw that series villain, antagonist and just plain BITCH (sorry kids) NAN was getting a book I knew I had to push on so I could read her love story Up In Flames when it releases June 28th….I mean if SHE can find love...there's hope for us all….I’ll save my total distaste that she finds it with MAJOR for my review on that book….
MOVING ON……….THE BEST GOODBYE
This is Captain's (Blaire’s brother) story. We have met him off and on throughout the series because of his connection to Blaire. At the end of Mase and Reese’s story we find out some pretty heavy news about Captain and his occupational hazards. Shed new light and paints him as a totally different character from what I had originally envisioned.
His girl is Addy. They have a past. A connection since they were kids, and due to tragic messed up circumstance they were torn apart. Addy is now determined to finally reach out to Captain, 10 years later...and when it happens it's heavy with emotions and secrets….
This story felt very removed from the rest of the group. Very different from what I was expecting from Captain's story...almost rushed and predictable? Slow starter. I have always liked Captain so I was excited to get back story but it just didn’t quite seem to fit with what was built up of him so far…
Addy? DROVE ME NUTS….no my favorite girl of the group by far. Holy COW this girl….Insecurities and jealousy are natural human emotions. I get that...we all have them...but stop being silly. You guys have been real with each other for all of like 48 hours and you're already wigged out about a lady talking to him...JEEZEEEEE. She’s a good Moma and I respect that loads, but she just wasn’t my girl.
Over all this book was good. I liked it okay. I DIDN’T LOOOVEEE IT THOUGH ya know? I’d say a solid 3 out 5. I guess the other books just set my expectations a little too high? It started slow but really strong for me and around 80% it just kind of fell off….
THIS IS HOW I FEEL:
Again...it wasn’t bad I’m just a little indifferent about the whole thing. It’s didn’t leave an impression. I definitely wouldn’t skip this book in the series...that's just crazy weird. We DID get a little bit of Major who I mentioned above….I LIKE HIM A LOT….so this did serve to get me psyched for the next book.
